Am I an employee or a contractor?
A 1099 independent contractor — same as Uber/Lyft/DoorDash drivers. You set your hours, your service zips, your acceptance pattern. You file your own taxes. We issue a 1099-NEC at year end if you earn over the IRS threshold.
How fast do I actually get paid?
3 business days from job completion. We pay through Stripe Connect (the same payout rail used by Shopify, Lyft, and DoorDash). Your money goes straight to your bank account. We do not hold a "minimum payout" balance.
What if a customer complains about my work?
First, we ask you to return and re-perform within 72 hours at no additional charge — same as you'd do for your own customer. If you can't return or the complaint is serious, we look at the photo you uploaded at completion, talk to the customer, and resolve fairly. We don't withhold pay for vague complaints.
What if no one accepts my job offer fast enough?
If you decline or don't respond within 10 minutes, the offer moves to the next pro in the queue. Doesn't affect your standing — your queue position is based on rolling 12-month acceptance rate and customer ratings, not single decisions.
Can I keep my own customers?
Yes. Whatever customers you had before Brandywine, and any new ones you find on your own, are yours. The only restriction is that you can't take a customer who first came to you through a Brandywine job offer and move them off-platform — for 12 months after our last interaction. That's standard non-solicitation language. Outside of that, your book is your book.
What if I don't have insurance yet?
You'll need it before your first job. We can recommend Indiana-friendly carriers (Hiscox, NEXT Insurance, biBerk for landscape ops) that quote online in under 10 minutes for around $40-60/month. Apply now, get insured this week, start taking jobs next week.
Where do the jobs come from?
Brandywine handles customer acquisition — Google Ads, local SEO, community partnerships, and word of mouth in the New Palestine / Greenfield / McCordsville corridor. You don't pay for marketing, run ads, answer customer calls, or chase invoices.
